Johnny Campbell live
Irish Pub
Die Veranstaltung
Harking back to an age when Folk musicians travelled to share songs, stories and tales from their land, Campbell has since 2013 plied his trade across over twenty-one different countries. Writing self-penned material and delving deep into Northern English folk song, Campbell's material and performance is authentically English. Or Northern English. Since the release of his limited release album 'Hook, Line & Sinker' in 2015 and his follow up 'Avalon' in 2017, Campbell has toured USA, Iceland, Ireland, UK, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany,
Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey & Faroe Islands. Solidifying his reputation as one of England's last Folk troubadours with his latest album (January 2020) 'From Hull and Halifax and Hell...' is a live album of his first performance on the Faroe Islands.
In between all this he has found the time to open up shows for BBC Folk award nominees and winners such as Stick in the Wheel, Ewan McLennan, Martin Carthy, Daoiri Farrell, Naomi Bedford & Paul Simmonds. Not to show Campbell is sticking to a well-trodden Folk path, he's supported Anarcho-punk legend Steve Ignorant's Slice of Life numerous occasions and the seminal The Men They Couldn't Hang as well as being one of the core reviewers for the well-respected Fatea Magazine.
